Sin Is Sin ~ Size Doesn’t Matter
Have you ever heard someone say “It’s just a little white lie to save their feelings”? Or maybe you’ve heard “Well at least I don’t beat my wife”? How many times have we heard people, ourselves included, try to justify the “little” sins in our life?
Things You Need:
A Bible & a heart for Jesus
1. It’s so easy for us to see and judge other people’s flaws. How many times have you thought, “If they were really a Christian, they’d be at every church service.” Then turn around and skip Wednesday Night service because you want to see your favorite TV show premiere? 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
2. Maybe you’ve seen someone from your church smoking. Is your first thought “Wait till the ladies hear about the sin they have in their life.” Or is your first thought, “They must really struggle with something stressful. I’ll say an extra prayer for them.” Mark 7:20-23
3. What about your bad habits? Do you share juicy tidbits with your neighbors and friends about other people? Do you cuss your fellow driver when they cut you off? Have you told a “white” lie to spare someone’s feelings? Romans 5:20-21
4.MORE SCRIPTURE: Psalm 25:8-11; Malachi 3:5; 1 John 3:8;
* Sin is sin, the size doesn’t matter. Calling it a “white” lie doesn’t make it more truthful than any other lie. Wishing someone dead isn’t less sinful than killing someone. Taking a highlighter from work isn’t less sinful than robbing a bank.
* When God looks at sin, He sees it all in the same light. Stealing a car is the same as cheating on a spelling test. There’s no size when dealing with sin.
