Praying For Missionaries
If you have ever been asked to pray for our Missionaries then you know it can be a big job. Where do we start? What do they need? Have you ever sent this prayer up: “God bless all the missionaries, Amen”? Although it’s a great start, we can do better.
Missionaries need more from us than just a generic prayer. Try some of these tips to make a more productive and potent prayer for our missionaries.
Pray that God will:
1. Give them the measure of health and strength that will best glorify Him.
2. Give them grace to overcome the difficulties that may come their way.
3. Give them a deepening trust and help them to be willing to pay the price of consecration.
4. Give them time to pray and study their Bibles.
5. Give them unconquerable determination to go through every obstacle with Him as their guide.
6. Give them discipline for the intensive study of the language and for the sermons and lectures they must prepare.
7. Give them strength, wisdom, and guidance in rearing their children.
8. Give strength to overcome loneliness, irritations, and misunderstandings that may arise because of the different culture, climate and circumstances.
9. Help them prioritize their activities, in order that they might give His work their utmost.
10. Help missionary couples grow in their love and commitment to one another.
11. Give wisdom, grace, compassion and humility in dealing with people of other cultures.
12. Be sought and followed in every effort put forth.
13. Provide for their material needs according to His will.
14. Help them train and empower the church leaders in their area.
15. Protect them from physical harm.
16. Give them wisdom above their physical limitations.
17. Enable them to lead and to serve with equal grace.
* After praying these things, you can add “God bless all the missionaries, Amen”.
