Courage
Are you a courageous person? Where do you find courage? What does courage mean to you? Have you ever needed courage? Did you have to dig deep or is your courage close to the surface?
Courage means the ability to face danger, difficulty, uncertainty, or pain without being overcome by fear or being deflected from a chosen course of action. Encarta ® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1998-2004 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
For most people people, a routine is comfort. We establish these routines to stay “safe”. With this in mind, how does faith play into courage?
~ Without risk, we don’t need faith
~ Without fear, we don’t need faith
When following Christ and living by faith, we need courage. Bold obedience is an expression of courage.
Courage is stepping up for what is right even when we are terrified. It’s not the absence of fear. What courage is needed if things are “smooth sailing”. It is active and decisive.
Following God with courage allows the impossible. We can only really make a difference, when we have bold action.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:
1. What action am I willing to take for what is right? Is there something or someone in need that you know about? Is there someplace you can go to find out what needs there are in your community.
2. What risk(s) are you willing to face? Are you courageous enough to face obstacles head-on? Will you take the challenges that are thrown at you?
3. Are you willing to face opposition for something you know is right?
4. Will you make a difference in your community, a neighbors life or even in your own family?
