Christian View Verses World View

Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

Thing You Will Need:

Bible, Pen and Paper

Have you ever compared your “Christian” view with the “world” view? They have little or nothing in common. Stop and think about how you view things and ask yourself “Is this the way Christ sees things?” An example would be the T.V. program you watched last night. Would you have watched it if Jesus were over for a visit?

What is a worldview? It is the way we think the world works and how we fit into it. Our worldview shapes our thoughts, attitudes and actions.

The Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Your worldview answers four questions:

1. Where did I come from? (How you see your past.)

2. Why is the world such a mess? (What you were taught about the worlds mess.)

3. Is there a solution? (How the problem can be fixed.)

4. What is my purpose? (Why you believe you are here on earth, in your current situation, etc.)

The Bible tells us what God’s view of the world is. He loves each of us, He is good and just, He doesn’t tolerate sin, His way and Will are our guides and His love is unmatchable.

The sheep listen for His voice. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. When He has brought out all His own, He goes before them and they follow Him because they know His voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact they will run from him because they do not know a strangers voice. John 10:3-5

Teach me to do Your Will, for You are my God; may Your good Spirit lead me on level ground. Psalm 143:10

This is what the Lord says – your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. Isaiah 48:17

Be careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s Will is. Ephesians 5:15-17

The Bible also tells us about the world’s view on life. God shared both with us so we would know the things to watch out for and so we would be on guard from evil things.

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and it’s desires pass away, but the man who does not the Will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:15-17

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. Even in laughter the heart may ache, and joy may end in grief. The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways, and the good man rewarded for his. Proverbs 14:12-14

As you evaluate your view, think on this verse:

“…What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of an will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.” Mark 8:36-38
