A World In Pain
If there is one thing I have observed over the years, it is that this world is in a great deal of pain. It doesn’t matter where people live, there is pain. The circumstances of pain may differ from place to place but the cause is the same.
One word can sum up the cause of the world’s pain; hopeless. The world feels hopeless because of things around them that are out of their control.
Psalm 10:17-18 ~ You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.
Because the media can give us news of disasters, troubles, wars etc. instantly, bad news comes at a rate that most people cannot process and heal from it before being hit with more bad news.
Lamentations 3:21-26 ~ Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassion’s never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
We live in a world of pain that suffers collectively from the violence of nature and man. It’s a world that also suffers individually from personal heartache.
Romans 15:13 ~ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Being bombarded with hardship messages and anguishing messages, increases the feeling of despair. This is making more people depressed and feeling hopeless.
Psalm 147:11 ~ The Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their their hope in His unfailing love.
Standing around crying “Why me?”, does not work when things go wrong. Stress can be overwhelming and cause hopelessness. Since we cannot eliminate stress, what can we do?
Psalm 25:4-5 ~ Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.
In the middle of all of the stress and pain, how often do you take time to breath? It may sound silly, but trust me, taking time for some deep cleansing breaths can help you manage the stress better. Your blood pressure will lower and your thoughts will clear. With a more relaxed and calm spirit, you can hear God calling to you, comforting you and pouring out His love to you.
As the holidays approach, take time to breath. Spend some quiet time with God and let Him refuel you.
